Join us for this inspiring documentary about the largest and “most advanced” medical school in the world, the Latin American School of Medicine, known as ELAM, in Havana, Cuba.
Since its first class of graduates in 2005, over 28,500 people from 103 countries have studied and graduated from ELAM, completely free of charge. Most graduates are from low income communities in Africa, Asia, and the Americas, including the US, and around half of all graduates are women. ELAM graduates go on to serve some of the poorest and most remote communities in the world. Socialist Cuba practices this healthcare internationalism despite the brutal US blockade which denies basic medicines to the Cuban people.
This year ELAM celebrates the 20th anniversary of its first intake of students. Join us to learn about and celebrate this achievement.
£5 entry / £3 concession (student, unemployed, etc.).
Sunday 9th June, 2 – 5pm.
