"Big Pete" Memorial Gig

Pirate Pete's Memorial Gig, for Peter 'Big Pete' Bartley , will take place on Friday 21st July at the Flying Duck, Renfield St Glasgow. Doors open 7:00. 1st Band Onstage 7:30pm.

Big 'Irish Pete' Bartley was a very well-known and much loved character on the Glasgow music scene for over 30 years. He was a guitar player, bassist and drummer with many bands, as well as being a top-class sound man at many gigs and at the Glasgow School of Art, working for Bruno Celini operating out of the legendary Soundhaus. Pete's personal collection included about 20 guitars - several each of Gibsons, Fenders, & Guilds, and also included Gretsch, Aria and Yamaha guitars, and even a ukulele!

Pete sadly passed away on Wednesday 5rd April, and had an unattended, direct cremation, á la David Bowie. This concert will be performed in his memory.

Appearing will be The Deadly Viper Guitar Squad (aka the Tattie Bogle Blues Men) - ALIENPIG will also be adding some supremely psychedelic keys to their already fulsome sound! - Johnny Smillie and Monica Queen (of Thrum, and Tenement and Temple) and members of Solomon Flynn, We Are The Men, Yintz, local punkers Vegetable Truck, and more tbc.

Also now added is Chas T Frazer, of Capone and the Bullets, who will be playing his own special tribute for Pete....

Members of Pete's family will be in attendance, and all music-lovers, and all who knew him are welcome, Punks and Pirates especially!

Admission will be free, with a bucket for donations going to the Cat's Protection charity in Glasgow. Pete loved cats almost as much as he loved his guitars.....
